Message from the Chief Officer
Dear Parent:
The role of the Gifted and Enriched Academic Programs (GEAP) unit of the Office of Academic Enhancement is to manage the selection process for schools and programs for academically advanced students. Each of these schools and programs provides a challenging academic experience designed to develop qualified students to their fullest potential.
There are 24 GEAP schools citywide to serve the specific needs of Chicago's exceptional children. Every year, thousands of applications are submitted, but limited space availability means that many qualified students cannot be accommodated. As a result, we strongly encourage parents to maximize their options by applying to numerous Chicago public elementary schools and programs.
